MINUTES
1. Call to Order—Meeting was called to order by Chairman Mr. Villela at 6:30 p.m.
2. Roll Call and Excused Absences—Members Present: Ms. Kearns, Ms. Womack, Ms. Meadows,Mr.
Hicks, Mr. Villela,Ms. Cleary and Ms. Casey; Members Absent: Mr. Delgado. Mr. Hicks made the
motion to excuse the absence of Mr. Delgado. Motion was seconded by Ms. Womack. For: All;
Against:None. Motion carried 6 to 0.
3. Moment of Silence/Invocation—Chairman ask for a Moment of Silence.
4. Pledge of Allegiance—All in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
5. Citizens to be Heard
This is the only time during the meeting that a citizen can address the Cibolo Historic Committee. It is
the opportunity for visitors and guests to address the Committee on any issue to include agenda items.
All visitors wishing to speak must fill out the Sign-In Roster prior to the start of the meeting. The Cibolo
Historic Committee may not debate any non-agenda issue, nor may any action be taken on any non-
agenda issue at this time, however, the Committee may present any factual response to items brought up
by citizens. (Attorney General Opinion— JC-0169) (Limit of three minutes each.) All remarks shall be
addressed to the Committee as a body, and not to any individual member thereof. Any person making
personal, impertinent, or slanderous remarks while addressing the Cibolo Historic Committee may be
requested to leave the meeting.
No citizen signed up to speak.
6. Consent Agenda
A. Approval of minutes of the April 8, 2019 Historic Committee Meeting.
Ms. Womack made the motion to approve the consent agenda. Motion was seconded by Mr.
Hicks. For: All;Against: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.
7. Discussion/Action
A. Discussion of proposed projects and/or plans for the committee.
The group talked about the Old School House they visited in April. Some of the items they
would like to see preserved were the wooden staircase, ceiling, windows, stone fence, crown
molding, and doors. Mr. Klein from the Engineering and Planning Department spoke with the
group and explained the design phase for the building. City Council has approved a contact for
Architectural Services for the Old School House on May 28. The building will house the
Planning& Engineering Department and the Economic Development Department. There will be
room set aside for a public meeting room and a place for display cases.
The group talked about a Mission Statement and Core Functions. Mr. Villela went over the core
functions 1) Identify 2) Collect 3)Preserve 4)Advise 5) Share 6) Celebrate. The group like the
core functions and Ms. Womack made a motion to accept the Core Functions. Motion was
seconded by Ms. Kearns. For: All; Against:None. Motion carried 6 to 0.
The group also talked about developing a face book page and a page on the City's website. They
also talked about getting audio history from people that have lived in the area. Ms. Womack
want to inform everyone that there will be a book signing(history of Cibolo) at the Mill on June
15d'from 1 to 3.
8. Future agenda items and dates—Scheduling of guest speakers.
9. Adjournment—Ms. Womack made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Motion was
seconded by Ms. Kearns. For: All; Against: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.
