Min P&R 06/04/2019{ OF C/B PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING City of Cibolo 200 S. Main Street June 4, 2019 6:30 PM MINUTES Call to Order — Meeting was called to order at 6:30pm by Chairman Hawkins. Roll Call — Members Present: Mr. Hawkins, Ms. Spencer, Ms. Dodd, Mr. Hicks and Ms. Herr; Members Absent: Mr. Jones and Mr. Vachon. Mr. Hicks made the motion to excuse the absence of both Mr. Jones and Mi•. Vachon. Motion was seconded by Ms. Spencer. For: All; Against: None. Motion carried 4 to 0. 3. Moment of Silence/Invocation —A Moment of Silence was requested by the chairman 4. Pledge of Alle iQ ance — All in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance. 5. Citizens to be Heard This is the only time during the meeting that a citizen can address the Parks and Recreation Commission. It is the opportunity for visitors and guests to address the Parks and Recreation Commission on any issue to include agenda items. All visitors wishing to speak must fill out the Sign - In Roster prior to the start of the meeting. The Parks and Recreation Commission may not debate any non -agenda issue, nor may any action be taken on any non -agenda issue at this time however the Parks and Recreation Commission may present any factual response to items brought up by citizens. (Attorney General Opinion — JC -0169) (Limit of three minutes each). All remarks shall be addressed to the Commission as a body, and not to any individual member thereof. Any person making personal, impertinent, or slanderous remarks while addressing the Commission may be requested to leave the meeting. No citizens signed up to be heard 6. Consent Agenda A. Approval of the minutes from May 7, 2019. Ms. Herr made the motion to approve the consent agenda. Motion was seconded by Mr. Hicks. For: All; Against: None. Motion carried 4 to 0. Discussion/Action A. Discussion on after action report for the Memorial Day Ceremony. The Memorial Day Ceremony was briefly discussed. Approximately 100 people attended the event and positive feedback was given. Speaker gave a very good presentation. Both the Heritage Girls and Scouts who assisted did a good job. Might be able to utilize groups more in the program next year. All members that committed to be in attendance were there. Some issues that were brought up was not having a podium (Fire Department was able to bring a podium from their building out). In the future talk was to have a rehearsal the day before to make sure everyone is aware of what needs to happen and what each person is responsible for. Letters thanking those that participated in the event (GVEC, speaker, Mayor, Mayor Pro -tem, ROTC, Scouts, and Heritage Girls needs to be sent out. B. Discussion/Action of quarterly events for FY 2019. A brief discussion on events planned for the remainder of the year. July 9th Council Meeting — Proclamation for Parks and Recreation Month. Members that can attend need to be at the meeting by 6:30 pm. August Night — Movie Night (looking at August 1011 date for the event). September Disc Golf Tournament at Schlather Park. Talked about if it should be a sanction event or not and the pros and cons of each. November — Veterans Day Event at Veterans Memorial Park on Cibolo Valley Drive. Talked about the ROTC and Steele Band participating in the event. Items needed for event (coffee, water and cookies). 8. Adiournment Mr. Hicks made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:56 pm.
