Dear Mr. Sutton,
The Guadalupe Appraisal District (GAD) Board of Directors continues to move forward with plans to expand
and renovate the District's facilities (the building project). Design development of the building project has been
completed and associated costs have been more clearly defined. But before actual construction of the building
project can begin,an approval process that involves the entities that the district serves must be satisfied.
Section 6.051(b) of the Texas Property Tax Code prescribes this approval process. The first step of the approval
process requires that the Board of Directors(BOD)approve a resolution proposing the building project. During
the BOD's last regular meeting of August 1, 2005, the BOD approved a resolution proposing the building
project.
Upon approval of the proposal resolution, the chief appraiser is then required to notify the presiding officer of
each entities governing body of the approved resolution, which is the purpose of this letter. Enclosed you will
find a copy of the approved resolution.
Section 6.051(b)further states that upon receiving notification of the approved resolution, the governing body of
each taxing unit served by GAD must approve or disapprove by way of resolution the proposed building project
no later than 30 days after receiving notification of the approved resolution. With that being said, the BOD
respectfully request that an action item be placed upon your governing bodies agenda no later than
September 2, 2005 to approve a resolution of the proposed building project. Also enclosed you will find a
sample resolution that your governing body may use during this approval process.
Section 6.051(b)also requires that each entity file with the Chief Appraiser the resolution that was approved by
the governing body no later than September 12, 2005.
Appraisal District staff will be available to attend the meeting in which this resolution will be discussed. Please
contact the Chief Appraiser, Chris Boenig if you would like to have a brief presentation of the building project
before your governing body.
Respectfully Submitted,
Chris Boenig, RPA
Chief Appraiser
