ORDINANCE 1211
AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CIBOLO,
GUADALUPE COUNTY, TEXAS, LEVYING A TAX RATE FOR
MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS FOR TAX YEAR 2017; LEVYING
A TAX RATE FOR INTEREST AND SINKING FOR TAX YEAR 2017;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City's appraisal roll was certified by the Guadalupe County Chief Appraiser;
and
WHEREAS, an effective tax rate and rollback rate were calculated by the Tax
Assessor/Collector of Guadalupe County in accordance with Texas Property Tax Code; and
WHEREAS, the proposed tax rate exceeds the lower of the effective tax rate or the rollback rate;
and
WHEREAS, notice and public hearing requirements were fulfilled in accordance with Chapter
140 of the Texas Local Government Code and Chapter 26 of the Texas Property Tax Code;
WHEREAS, two public hearings were held on August 22, 2017 and September 5, 2017;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CIBOLO,TEXAS:
SECTION 1
The City Council of the City of Cibolo does hereby levy and adopt a tax rate per $100 valuation
for this city for tax year 2017 as follows:
$ 0.2726 for the purposes of Maintenance and Operation
$ 0.1748 for the payment of Principal and Interest on the Debt of this city
$ 0.4474 Total Tax Rate
SECTION 2
THIS TAX RATE WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND
OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.
THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 5.5 PERCENT AND WILL
RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION ON A $100,000 HOME BY
APPROXIMATELY $14.20.
SECTION 3
SEVERABILITY
That it is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council of the City of Cibolo that the
phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs, and sections of this Ordinance are severable, and if any
phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this Ordinance should be declared
unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such
unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs
or sections of the Ordinances, since the same would have been enacted by the City Council
without incorporation in this ordinance of any such unconstitutional phrases, clause, sentence,
paragraph or section.
SECTION 4
EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect on the 1st day of October, 2017,
PASSED AND APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 12Trr DAY OF SEPTEMBER,2017.
