ORD 33 06/17/1970 Ilk • ; ,r • NO. 33 AN ORDINANCE CALLING AN ELECTION FOR LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX, FIXING THE DATE OF ELECTION, DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLACES, APPOINTING PRESIDING JUDGE AND ASSISTANT PRESIDING JUDGE, PROVIDING FOR''NOTICE OF ELECTION, AND SUSPENDING THE RULES REQUIRING ORDINANCES TO BE READ. UPON THREE SEPARATE DAYS. BE IT ORDAINED BY''.THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CIBOLO, TEXAS: Section I . That an election be ordered in said City on the 25th day of JULY , 19 70 , which date is not less than thirty (30) days nor more than ninety (90) days after the passage of this ordinance. Section II. Said election shall be held at the following placesinsaid City and the following persons are hereby appointed presiding judge and alternate presiding judge for said election: PRECINCT PRESIDING ALTERNATE NUMBER POLLING PLACE JUDGE PRESIDING JUDGE Cibolo Vol . Fire E.C . Wiederstein Tomy Meek Dept. Station • 111 . • • Mrs. E.C . Wiederstein is hereby approved Clerk for absentee voting, and Mrs. O.L. Dietz is hereby appointed Deputy Clerk for absentee voting. The absentee voting for the above desig- nated election shall be held at the Cibolo Lumber Company within the boundaries of the above named City and said place of absentee voting shall remain open for at least eight hours on each day for absentee voting which is not a Saturday, a Sunday, or an official State holiday beginning on the 20th day and continuing through the 4th day preceding the date of said election. Said place of voting shall remain open between the hours of eight and five on each day of said absentee voting. The above designated place for absentee voting is also the absentee clerk ' s mailing address to which ballot applications and ballots voted by mail may be sent. Section III. Ballots of said election shall have written or printed thereon the following: FOR the adoption of a one per cent (1%) local sales and use tax within the city. ❑ AGAINST Place an "X" in the square beside the statement indicating the way you wish to vote. The manner of holding said election shall be governed by the terms and provisions of Article 1166c of V.A.T.C.S. , and in accord- ance with the law applicable to other municipal elections. Notice of said election shall be given by publishing a sub- stantial copy of this ordinance on the same day of two successive weeks in a newspaper having general circulation within the city, there being no newspaper published within this City, the date of the first publication to be at least twenty-one (21) days prior to the - 2 - • .0 0 • date set by said election. The City Clerk is hereby instructed to cause said notice to be so given. Section IV. The rule requiring that an ordinance shall be read on three separate days, is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall become effective as provided by the charter of this city.
