ORDINANCE NO. 1079
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CIBOLO, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 74-87
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION AND
MAINTENANCE OF A NO STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING ZONE,
PROVIDING EXCEPTIONS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS
ON ROADWAYS ADJACENT TO SCHOOL CROSSWALKS; PROVIDING FOR
REPEALER AND EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS,the City of Cibolo seeks to protect the public safety,preserve the quality of
life and prevent nuisances in the City; and
WHEREAS, the safety of pedestrians and children is a primary concern and the City
Council desires to improve safety near public schools;
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the presence of parked and/or
standing vehicles adjacent to the crosswalks leading from the entrances and exits in the rear of
certain schools presents a hazard to students and pedestrians in general entering and exiting the
building during school hours; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the installation and maintenance of a No
Stopping, Standing or Parking Zones near Wiederstien Elementary, Jordan Intermediate and
Schlather Intermediate Schools is necessary to protect and promote the health, safety and welfare
of the public and is in the City's best interest.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CIBOLO, TEXAS, THAT SECTION 74-87 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BE
AMENDED:

Section 1. Sec. 74-87 Specific No Parking Areas:
(a) It is unlawful for any person to stop, stand or park a motor vehicle (except in compliance
with official traffic control devices)from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. or from 2:45 to 3:15p.m.
on any Monday through Friday from August to June when Wiederstein Elementary
School, Schlather Intermediate School or Jordan Intermediate School are in session upon
any of the following public streets:
Wiederstein Elementary:
1) Within 75 feet in any direction of the intersection of Crenshaw Ct. and
Zoeller Way
Schlather Intermediate:
1) Within 75 feet in any direction of the designated pedestrian crosswalk on
Willow Bluff
Jordan Intermediate:
1) Within 75 feet in any direction of the intersection of Cordero Drive and
Braeswood Lane
(b) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that the vehicle parked on the designated
street at a prohibited time:
(1) Was parked for the purpose of delivering or picking up merchandise or
material from a residence located on the street;
(2) Was owned by a governmental entity or was performing work under a contract
with a governmental entity;
(3) Was owned by a public utility company or was performing work under a
contract with a public utility company;
(4) Displays a disabled parking placard or special license plates as defined in
V.T.C.A., Transportation Code, Ch. 681 and is registered to a resident of the
designated street;
(5) Was parked for purposes of private residential construction,remodeling or
repairs and the residence owner has obtained the proper building permits from the
city; or

(6) Displays a parking placard issued by the city and is located directly in front of
the residence to which the permit is registered.
Section 2. The City shall erect No Stopping, Standing or Parking signs in
conformance with the Texas Transportation Commission's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
Devices on the aforementioned roadways.
Section 3.Repealer:
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on the date the traffic control
device is erected.
