CITY COUNCIL MEETING: - May 199 1971

Minutes were read and approved with two corrections:
(1) that Wassles' place of business is south of
Ed Higginson' s, not east.
(2) that George L. Badgett' s request for a per-
mit to conduct a business at 102 S. Main,
to consist of light construction and storage
of materials used in the construction bus-
iness with the stipulations that all materi-
als dxeto be kept in an orderly manner, the
grounds are to be kept neat, carefully avoid-
ing conditions which would allow breeding of
rats, rodents and mosquitoes was also passed.
The financial report was read and accepted.
The Council agreed by telephone vote this past month
to issue the building permit for the Bowling Alley
addition.
Mr. D,ylla made a motion, seconded by Mr. Dykes to
pay Henk' s Construction Co. for street repairs amount-
ing to 4422.13.
The purchase of the Remmler property for a city park
at a cost of 419,000. - x,20,000, was discussed and
tentatively agreed upon subject to working out finan-
cial details.
There was no news concerning the sewer system or mas-
ter plan.
The Parks and Recreation Dept. reported a tourna-
ment is planned for May 23, 1971. The trophies have
been donated.
Mr. Ling reported on the duties a "night watchman"
could preform Vaithou meeting the qualifications of
a peace officer and this possibility was dismissed
as not meeting our needs.
It was agreed that the Wiedner boys (Ronnie and Johnny
Pollard) are to be paid 42.00 each for cleaning the
railroad right of way.
Mayor Schlather and Mr. Niemietz will canvass the
area for street signs required this next month.
Mr. Lieck moved for adjournment. Ling seconded and
motion passed at 9:40 p.m.
