CITY COUNCIL rk ETING
OCTOBER 19, 1972
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P. M. by Mayor
Schlather with all members present except alderman Dylla.
Mayor Schlather recommended to the council that Linda Ling
be hired as secretary for the City at a salary of 475. per
month. Her duties will include attending all council meet-
ings , recording of the minutes, and all other secretarial
and administrative work required to carry on the City' s
business her time to approximate 10 hours per week. She
will be reimbursed for mileage . The council agreed to this
unanimously.
The minutes . of September 21 and October 4 were - read and
aporoved as read.
The financial report was read and accepted.
During a brief discussion of the proposed franchise with
GVEC , Mayor Schlather reported that during a discussion
with a representative of United Gas, it was learned that
the real advantage to GVEC of a franchise is that it would
prevent the City from acquiring their facilities through
condemnation. The council further agreed that any franchise
granted would require advance notice by GVEC to the City
for renewal.
A motion was made by Alderman Niemietz, seconded -by Alderman
Lieck, to pass the Junk Auto Ordinance. Motion passed unanimously.
Ed Ling made a motion, seconded by Alderman Niemietz and passed
to pass Ordinance No. 45 annexing a portion of the Lewis
Borgfeld land north of Cibolo.
The council discussed the development 9f the City Park in-
cluding a picnic area, ball diamonds ra combination concession
stand/restrooms. It was agreed that Mayor Schlather and, Ed
Ling should visit the Parks and Wildlife Dept. in Austin to
determine what "services in kind the City may obtain credit for
with respect to a fifty-fifty matching grant.

Alderman Niemietz reported that November 5th will be a work
day in the City Park. All councilmen are encouraged to attend.
The Zoning Ordinance will be further considered at the No-
vember 2nd meeting when Mr. Hoyle Osborne is present. The
details of the Subdivision Ordinance were discussed at some
length. Mr. Osborne is to mail copies of the Mobile Home
Park Ordinance Monday, October 23rd.
Prior to the next meeting, Linda will obtain further informa-
tion concerning the proposed Radio Network with the adjoining
communities . Mayor Schlather is to obtain more information
concerning the Joint Police Efforts with Schertz.
The need for a City owned typewriter which could produce qual-
ity work was discussed. A motion was made by Alderman Niemietz,
seconded by Alderman Dykes and passed to purchase an electric
typewriter at the Mayor' s discretion.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at
10:45 P. M.
