CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 18, 1971
The regular City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Schlather on
April 18, 1974, with all members present.
The outcome of the election was announced. Edward Ling, place 1 ,50 votes,
Fred Niemietz, place 4, 48 votes, Marge Smith, place 5, 29 votes, and
T.J. Harris, place 5, 24 votes, one write in irote for Johnny Meek.
The first item on the agenda was the swearing in of the newly elected aldermen.
(Edward Ling, Fred Niemietz, and Marge Smith) .
The minutes were read and approved as read.
The financial report was read and accepted.
Mayor Schlather reported that he had inspected a septic tank in a backyard. Linda
was to report this problem to the county health officer.
A motion was made by Fred Niemietz (Edward Ling) to pass a dog caritnol:crdinance.
However, after much discussion, a motion was made by Edward Ling, (Fred Niemietz)
to table the motion until the next regular meeting. The motion to table carried.
Considerable discussion ensued concerning the City's need for increased police
protection and for a water works operator. The council agreed to offer to Mr.
Hugo Ackermann the same proposal which was offered to Ed Higginson and to which
no response was received.
A motion was made by Fred Niemietz (Edward Ling) and passed unanimously to pass
Ordinance # 66 annexing a portion of the W. E. Dean property.
A motion was made by Marge Smith (Fred Niemietz) and passed unanimously to pass
Ordinance # 67 annexing a portion of the Harry Bligh property.
Mayor Schlather reported that he has contacted a number of doctors in an attempt
to obtain a medical doctor for the Cibolo area.
Mayor Schlather reported that the Texas Highway Dept. is working on definate
plans for rerouting of FM 78 thru Cibolo .
A motion was made by Fred Niemietz (Edward Ling) and passed to adjourn at 9:20 P. M.
