Min CC 01/25/1982 - Public Hearing PUBLIC HEARING - CIBOLO ;CITY HALL - JANUARY 25, 1982 A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD AT 6:30 P.M.., MONDAY, JANUARY 25, 19821 AT THE CITY HALL, 109 SOUTH MAIN ST., CIBOLO, TEXAS TO HEAR THE PUBLIC'S OPINION ON THE REZONING OF THE PRO- PERTY OWNED BY VERNON McKASKLE ANb -LOCATED ON LOTS 6 & 73 BLOCK 1, GEO. H. SCHLATHER SUB . FROM RESIDENTIAL TO COM- MERCIAL. Mayor Ling called the public hearing to order at 6:30 P.M. Vernon McKaskle was present as well as 2 residents (property owners) in the area of the proposed rezoning. Mr. McKaskle stated his reason for the re-zoning request, that being his desire to put in a transmission repair shop on the lots. He said the building would be a steel building, costing approximately $653000. He also stated he owned the corner property across the street at the south end of Elm St. and it was already zoned commercial, he could put the shop there `-but felt it would be better suited on the two lots behind his used car business which is located on Oasis St. Mr. Gene Wells, owner of a lot with house on Elm Street across from the proposed shop, expressed his opinion. ' He felt that the shop should not infringe on the residential area and that it should be put on the corner of the street. He asked if the-city had considered an ordinance whereby the commercial property would have to be divided from residential by a privacy fence. ,-Gilbert Garza, another property owner in the area, felt the shop should not be put there. He stated he has 3 small children and that the street already has a lot of cars hot-rodding it down the street and he felt that a transmission shop would only add to the problem. Mr. McKaskle said he felt that the cars driving fast down the street was due to people already living on street and also from the service station located on F.M. 78 in fromt of his car lot. He stated that if any of his employees left the business in an unsafe manner he would like to be notified so he can put a stop to it. Councilman Swenson stated he had asked the opinion of the two, residents across the street from the proposed shop and that Eugene FieaLler had stated: he would rather see the shop across the street than next door to him. Mrs. Gilbert Garza said she would rather it be placed on the opts. rather than the corner. There were no other citizens to be heard at the public hearing so the Mayor adjourned the hearing at 7:00 p.m. • ED LIN R CLAUDE SMITH, P-& Z . BOARD CHM. BARBARA GLENEWINKEL, SECRETARY f ,I .
