1. CALL TO ORDER: 7:00 p.m.
2. INVOCATION: Jo Nirider, Councilmember
30 QUORUM CHECK: Mayor Ling, Councilmembers: Nirider, Smit42 Niemietz, Swenson,
& Thurman;; Chief of Police Jeronimo Marin, Jr.; Asst Iva. Amacker,
and Barbara. Glenewinkel, City Secretary.
4. MINUTES: Marge Smiths (Sig Swenson) moved the minutes of the November 192
1981 Council meeting be approved. All approved.
5. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD:
A. Mrs. David Rosson and Mrs. Charles Harris attended the Council
meeting to discuss the drainage problems around their homes. The
water tends to stand in the ditches and they wanted to know when
or if the city intends to do anything about the problem, The
council told of the things that were planned and are now being
done to alleviate the problem. Sometime in the near future the
Council expects to have some definite plant. The city council
hopes to let a contract sometime in the spring for the work to
clear up some of the street and drainage problems.
The two ladies also expressed their problem with trying togget
cable television on their street (Bramblewood Circle) . Their
were told that Barbara. would intervene on their behalf and
they were asked to bring a list of the people in their area who
would hook up to cable tv if it were available.
B. Sig Swenson (Fred Niemietz) moved the city accept the audit
of the city books done by Steven Cage, a, member of the firm of
Robert Koennecke, Seguin, Tx. All approved.
C. The problem with fire ants was discussed. The poison used to
control them is very expensive and is not Very effective consider-
the cost. The County of Bexar ha.s free poison to control ants
and Barbara. wa,s inttnucted to contact our county commissioner
again to find out if any of the poison (furnished by the state)
is now ava ilable.
D. City Patrol Cgr
The possibility of utilizing the "old" police ear as a city car
for use by the city secretary and as a back up police car was
discussed. Councilman Swenson will have it appraised by Discount
Autos and the cost of insurance willbedletermined. The council
will d=.cide when all facts are in whether or not to keep the car
or sell it.
E. Sig Swenson (Gerald Thurman) made a, motion that Norman Buttrick
be allowed to run the. water line from his place of business to a
workshop without putting in a, separate meter. All approved.
F. Mayor Ling reported that Ar. Mullins had scheduled the smoke
test for Mond. Dec. 14, 1981 at 9 a.m.
6. BILLS TO BE APPROVED: Marge Smith (Jo Nirider) moved the bills be approved for
payment. All approved.
