RES 1730 Ratify the Increas in Property Tax from Previous YearRESOLUTION 1730
A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CIBOLO, TEXAS TO RATIFY THE INCREASE IN PROPERTY
TAX REVENUES FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR.
WHEREAS, Section 102.007 (c) of the Texas Local Government Code provides that
adoption of a budget that will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the
previous year requires a separate vote of the governing body to ratify the property tax
increase reflected in the budget; and
WHEREAS, that a vote under Section 102.007(c) is in addition to and separate from the vote
to adopt the budget or a vote to set the tax rate;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CIBOLO, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found and
declared to be true and correct and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a
part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
SECTION 2
The proposed fiscal year 2026 budget will require raising more property tax revenue than the
prior year budget. In accordance with Local Government Code 102.005, the following
statement was made on the cover of the proposed budget: This budget will raise more total
property taxes than last year's budget by $1,143,736 (6.561/6), and of that amount $714,852 is
tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.
SECTION 3
That it is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council of the City of Cibolo that the
phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs, and sections of this Ordinance are severable, and if
any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this Ordinance should be declared
unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such
unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences,
paragraphs or sections of the Ordinances, since the same would have been enacted by the
City Council without incorporation in this ordinance of any such unconstitutional phrases,
clause, sentence, paragraph or section.
SECTION 4
EFFECTIVE DATE
This Ordinance shall take effect and shall be in full force at 12:00 a.m. on October 1, 2025.
