FOR ADOPTION OF THE
INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CmoL0 ADOPTING THE 2000 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL FIRS CODE, REGULATING AND GOVERNING THE
SAFEGUARDING OF LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE STORAGE, HANDLING AND USE OF HAZARDOUS
SUBSTANCES, MATERIALS AND DEVICES, AND FROM CONDITIONS HAZARDOUS TO LIFE OR PROPERTY IN THE OCCUPANCY OF BUILDINGS AND
PREMISES IN THE CITY OF CIBOLO; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR HAZARDOUS USES OR OPERATIONS; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO.
507 OF THE CITY OF CIBOLO AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF THE ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
The Mayor and City Council of the City of Cibolo ordains as follows:
Section 1. That a certain document, a copy of which is on file in the office of the Code Enforcement Officer of
the City Of Cibolo, being marked and designated as the International Fire Code, including all Appendices, as
published by the International Code Council, be and is hereby adopted as the code of the City of Cibolo for
regulating and governing the safeguarding of life and property from fire and explosion hazards arising from the
storage, handling and use of hazardous substances, materials and devices, and from conditions hazardous to life
or property in the occupancy of buildings and premises in the City of Cibolo and providing for the issuance of
permits for hazardous uses or operations; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms
of such International Fire Code, 2000 edition, published by the International Code Council, on file in the office
of the City of Cibolo are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this ordinance.
Section 2. That the following sections are hereby revised:
101.1 Title. These regulations shall be known as the Fire Code of the City Of Cibolo, hereinafter referred
to as "this code."
109.3 Violation penalties. Persons who shall violate a provision of this code or shall fail to comply with
any of the requirements thereof or who shall erect, install, alter, repair or do work in violation of
the approved construction documents or directive of the code official, or of a permit or certificate
used under provisions of this code, shall be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine
of not more than $2,000.00 dollars. Each day that a violation continues after due notice has been
served shall be deemed a separate offense.
111.4 Failure to comply. Any person who shall continue any work after having been served with a stop
work order, except such work as that person is directed to perform to remove a violation or unsafe
condition, shall be liable to a fine of not less than $100.00 dollars or more than $2,000.00 dollars.
Section 3. That Ordinance Number 507 of the City Of Cibolo entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT
VARIOUS STANDARD CODES RELATING TO INSPECTION ACTIVITIES OF CIBOLO AND
ENFORCEMENT OF BUILDING PROVISIONS AS PROVIDED IN SAID CODES" and all other ordinances
or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is, for any reason, held to
be unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The
Mayor and City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance, and each section, subsection,
clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses
and phrases be declared unconstitutional.
Section 5. That the City Secretary is hereby ordered and directed to cause this ordinance to be published.

Section 6. That this ordinance and the rules, regulations, provisions, requirements, orders and matters
established and adopted hereby shall take effect and be in full force and effect beginning October 1, 2001.
