ORD 513 3/28/2000Z. ORDINANCE NO.513 ELECTION ORDER FOR THE MAY 6, 2000 GENERAL ELECTION AN ORDER OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF CIBOLO, TEXAS, DECLARING THE UNOPPOSED CANDIDATES AS ELECTED CITY OFFICIALS AND ORDERING THAT THE MAY 6, 2000 GENERAL ELECTION SHALL NOT BE HELD FOR THE 2000-2001 CITY COUNCIL TERM OF OFFICE. WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Subchapter 3, Section 2.051 through 2.053, Texas Election Code, allows a political subdivision by order or ordinance to declare each unopposed candidate elected to office; and WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Cibolo, Texas, called for a General Election to be held on May 6, 2000 for the purpose to elect three council members to serve a 2000-2001 term of office; and WHEREAS, The deadline has passed to file an application for place on ballot or to declare regular write-in candidacy; and WHEREAS, During the statutory filing period, three candidates filed an appliation for place on ballot and no write-in candidate filed for any office; and WHEREAS, The City Secretary of the City of Cibolo has certified that the said respective candidates whose names were to appear on the ballot are unopposed, IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CIBOLO, TEXAS, THAT; 1. The General Election of May 6, 2000 is not required under current Texas Election law. 2. The General Election of May 6, 2000 shall not be held. 3. The following candidates are the elected City officials in the hereinafter named capacity: COUNCIL MEMBERS PLACE 1- BOB GLISAR PLACE 4 - CHUCK RIDGE PLACE 5 — JUDY TOKAR 4. The elected Council members shall be for a two-year term, effective upon taking the Oath of Office on May 9, 2000 at a regular City Council meeting. 5. The City Secretary will cause to be posted a copy of this Order during the period of early voting and on election day at the City's regular polling place.
