A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHiOLO, TEXAS,
SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL 1613 AND SENATE BILL 748 FOR THE STATE OF
TEXAS EIGHTY-EIGHTH LEGISLATIVE SESSION.
WHEREAS, the State of Texas eighty-eighth legislative session began January 10, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature for the State of Texas meets every other year; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest to provide clear and united
legislative direction so that critical functions of the City are not impaired or encumbered by
proposed legislation; and
WHEREAS, the City Council supports House Bill 1613 and Senate Bill 748 for the State
Economic Reimbursement for Veterans Exemptions;
WHEREAS, since the inception of veterans homestead exemptions in 2009, there has been a
disproportionate impact on cities and counties near military installations that has a broadened
impact across Texas,
WHEREAS, the ability of local governments to provide essential services like public safety
and infrastructure and quality of life amenities is directly impacted by reduced revenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cibolo, Texas,
to:
Approve a resolution of the City of Cibolo supporting House Bill 1613 and Senate Bill 748 for
the State of Texas Eighty -Eighth Legislative session.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Cibolo on April 25, 2023.
