Min CC 3/17/2023 Workshop"City of Choice" CITY COUNCIL STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP NOBLE GROUP 203 S. Main St. Cibolo, Texas 78108 March 17, 2023 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Minutes 1. Call to Order Workshop was called to order at 8:37 a.m. All members present with the exception of Councilman Roberts. 2. Workshop Overview Mr. Reed gave a brief overview of what the workshop would cover at today's meeting. Executive Staff Members were present and gave a little information about themselves and what they are working on in relationship to the City Council Strategic Initiatives. 3. Mock Performance Management Program Quarterly Meeting a. Economic Development meeting with CMO and PMP Mr. Reed and Ms. Lee on what would occur during a Management Quarterly Meeting. Council had the ability to ask questions during this mock performance. 4. Strategic Plan Accomplishments a. Update on Strategic Initiatives and Goals L Review What has been Accomplished and What Remains a Work in Progress Council had the opportunity to go over their Strategic Initiatives and Goals. They went over what has been accomplished and what still needs to be work on. 5. SWOT 2023 Analysis a. 2022 versus 2023 Council gave input on 2023 Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. They talked about what does our organization not do well to include how citizens and businesses see the organization. Council also had the opportunity to discuss Cibolo's growth and significant opportunities. Obstacles tht the organization faces were also discussed. 6. Vision Aspirations a. Review Purpose, Problem, and Aspiration Council discussed the City of Cibolo's vision and problems and what they would like to see in the future. 7. Council Conversation During this time council had the opportunity to ask questions on the subjects that had been presented. 8. Successes and Shortcomings January 2022 to March 2023 Council had the opportunity to discuss what they felt were successes in Cibolo over the past year. Council also went over some of the items they felt we as a city did not accomplish or did not complete or full complete. Many of the successes and shortcomings were echoed by several councilmembers. LUNCH 12:30 p.m. -1:15 p.m. 9. Team Building Exercise The City Councill, Mr. Reed, and Ms. Cimics participated in a team building exercise at the Escape Room in Cibolo. The team did beat the time allotted by a few minutes. 30. What Does Success Look Like in 2023? Council went over what they felt success will look like in 2023. 11. Plus/Delta Exercise Council informed staff what they liked about the workshop. Some of those were staff being present and their involvement, interaction with staff, team building excise, and the fact that the workshop was held local. Council also gave staff some things that they were not particular in favor of. They did not want it during March Madness, cap the workshop at six hours, some did not like the breakout activity, would like to have ideal for funding, and more time with staff. 12. Adjournment Motion was made by Councilman Hicks to adjourn the workshop at 4:10 p.m. Motion was seconded by Councilman Hetzel. For: All; Against: None. Motion carried.
